Assistant Manager
Responsible to: The Registered Manager and the Director of Care
Staff Related Duties:
- To take over all responsibility in the Manager’s absence.
- To co-ordinate and maintain the smooth running of the home.
- To ensure that all staff receive Induction training and all other relevant training.
- To ensure that all staff receive adequate supervision and appraisal and are supported and encouraged to reach their full potential.
- To supervise senior support workers.
- To organise staff rotas and timetables.
- To attend reviews and staff meetings.
- To be on-call or provide staff with an alternative on-call in order to give emergency advice when off the premises.
- To assist with recruitment and selection of staff and to be responsible for arranging all necessary cover, within the financial resources available.
- To ensure that personal expertise, skills and knowledge are regularly updated and that current issues, changes and development in relevant areas are considered.
General Duties:
- To ensure the smooth running of the home on a day to day basis, working with and alongside support workers in their day to day duties, allowing for the fact that some time will need to be allocated for organisational duties.
- To ensure that the home meets with Care Standards for Wales regulations.
- To ensure that all statutory records are kept up to date.
- To liaise with relevant external agencies and individuals to provide additional
support / services required for the welfare and well being of service users. - To be responsible for the overseeing of medical supplies and to ensure the safekeeping and correct issue of all drugs and medication.
- To ensure that all service users are able to maintain regular appointments and health checks.
- To ensure the home has regular health and safety checks and that all risk assessments are in place.
- To be responsible for ensuring that communication and feedback are continually developed and maintained within the home.
- To ensure the home is maintained in a state of good repair and cleanliness.
- To record and report all complaints, accidents or incidents to the relevant bodies.
- To ensure all Individual Service Plans are maintained and reviewed by Keyworkers and that correspondence is answered within agreed time limits.
- To work flexible hours in response to the needs of the service users and the service which will include weekend working, may include Bank Holidays and Christmas Day and includes sleep ins.
- To supervise work with service users to ensure that they are following programmes towards agreed goals.
- To assist the manager with other duties that reasonably correspond to the general character of the position and are commensurate with its level of responsibility and authority.
