| MAIN PURPOSES OF THE POST: | ¨ | To co-ordinate all day to day demands of the service during the working shift. |
| ¨ | To ensure the highest standards of professional support is provided which assists service users in overcoming the disabling effects of autism and other disabilities. | |
| ¨ | To work flexibly and as part of the whole staff team. | |
| ¨ | To deputise for the Director of Care in his/her absence. | |
| ¨ | To support adults with autism to experience life opportunities which encompass the above and promote the growth of individuals to their maximum potential. | |
1. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1.1 Management Responsibilities:
1.1.1 Assume delegated responsibility for the overall management of the service in the absence of the Director of Care.
1.1.2 Where required, be signatory for time sheets etc. in the full knowledge of budgetary and financial procedures.
1.1.3 Represent the Director of Care in his/her absence as necessary.
1.1.4 Undertake the duties of a Registered Manager in line with local registration requirements.
1.1.5 Participate as a member of the Senior Management Team and assist the Director of Care in overall management and planning of services.
1.1.6 Accept delegated responsibility for the implementation of identified and agreed plans.
1.1.7 Ensure the safe administration, storage and regular ordering of medication.
1.1.8 Ensure the maintenance of sound administrative practice of the service by maintaining full and comprehensive records for identified service users and case conferences as required.
1.1.9 Co-ordinate and chair Annual Review Meetings as required.
1.1.10 Undertake on-call duties as required.
1.1.11 Assist in the recruitment of staff to the service when required.
1.2 Service users
1.2.1 Support service users to achieve outcomes in line with I PPs.
1.2.2 Contribute to the process of defining and identifying service users’ needs and devising IPPs.
1.2.3 Ensure the welfare and development of all service users by providing the highest standards of personal care and ensuring that appropriate attention is paid to their physical, cultural, social, educational and recreational needs in accordance with IPPs.
1.3 Parents/Families/Carers
1.3.1 Ensure friendly, empathetic, informative and professional relationships with families/carers, advocates and professionals are maintained.
1.3.2 Ensure that regular contact is kept with the family/carers to advise on service users’ progress.
1.4 Staff
1.4.1 Lead and motivate a staff team to work enthusiastically towards identifying and supporting the needs of people with autism.
1.4.2 Ensure staff are deployed effectively to guarantee a safe level of cover appropriate to need.
1.4.3 Provide daily supervision, support and guidance to all Support Workers and trainees on duty.
1.4.4 Ensure that clean, hygienic accommodation is maintained for service users.
1.4.5 Identify and provide in-service staff training as required.
1.4.6 Comply with and ensure that all PRC Ltd policy requirements, including Health and Safety, are met.
1.5 Finance
1.5.1 Ensure that all service users’ personal finances and clothing allowances are properly managed, recorded and not misappropriated (in accordance with internal policies).
1.5.2 Ensure that provisions allowances are properly managed, recorded and not misappropriated (in accordance with internal policies).
1.5.3 Accept delegated budgetary responsibility for designated services.
1.6 Buildings
1.6.1 Report to the Director of Care, or other designated person, any building repairs and/or maintenance identified as requiring attention.
1.7 External Relationships
1.7.1 Ensure the promotion of good public relationships locally and the maintenance of good relationships with other agencies.
1.8 Professional Responsibilities
1.8.1 Ensure that professional and statutory standards and procedures are achieved and maintained.
1.8.2 Keep abreast with current practice schemes of care and training for people with autism, learning difficulties and challenging behaviour.
2. CONFIDENTIALITY
2.1 Maintain confidentiality for all areas of the company, its staff and its work. The nature of the work within PRC entrusts people with confidential information about people with autism, their families/carers and staff. Any breach of confidentiality will constitute gross misconduct.
3. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
3.1 Co-operate with all PRC staff in maintaining good relationships with outside agencies and the general public in order to uphold the company’s image and win increased support for its work.
3.2 Promote a positive image of autism PRC, and the company.
3.3 Ensure that your conduct within and outside the PRC does not conflict with professional expectations of the company.
3.4 Actively support and promote the company and all its policies including ‘Equal Opportunities’.
3.5 Participate in regular Management, Support and Development sessions with your Director of Care and staff for whom you are responsible.
3.6 Attend staff meetings and training as required.
3.7 Present feedback to the Director of Care on appropriate issues highlighted in Management, Support and Development with staff.
3.8 Ensure an awareness and observation of Fire and Health and Safety Regulations.
3.9 Ensure the respect, dignity and rights to privacy of service users as far as possible.
3.10 Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the post and its grading as requested by your Line Manager or his/her higher level of authority.
